as promised
i promised myself that if i got back on track and worked from 10-4 or so today, i could go out and take my photos of the mushroom. unfortunately, the mushroom was gone (glad i was able to photograph it yesterday) so i wandered around looking for other things to photograph. in prep for the upcoming photo throwdown with a.k. i decided to try my hand at landscapes (his specialty) as i'd hate for things to be framed in ways that would determine, way in advance, that i'd emerge, hands down, the winner. i did a few landscapes (or tried to) but found myself drawn, once again, to photographing things that make me kind of sick to my stomach. namely, butterflies which i have learned are just really well-dressed, flashy-ass bugs. despite my feelings for butterflies and bugs, the first photo here made me really happy. perhaps more than any of the pics i took this summer/fall. look at that guy just jamming out. or maybe he/she isn't jamming out. maybe that my projection. still, the photo made me laugh. a lot. it made me glad to have been able to catch that moment.
and a.k.--in case you are looking/reading, know this: when i'm not writing, or teaching, or reunioning, or retreating, i'm prepping for our throwdown. i predict i win.
